The UK’s alliance with Portugal is older than any other and began with a Treaty in 1373. The "oldest alliance" operates in new times as well. There are an estimated 300,000 Portuguese nationals living and working in the UK. In 2008 UK exports to Portugal totalled £1.6b, and UK imports from Portugal totalled £1.7b.
