Angola is Africa’s fastest growing economy and also one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Portuguese companies have been investing heavily and developing projects in Angola in a wide range of sectors - construction, environment, water, oil and gas, security, to name a few. Dealings of the UK Trade & Investment Team in Lisbon with Portuguese companies reveal that many of these seek suppliers for not only Portugal but also other Portuguese speaking countries, with emphasis on Angola.
Portugal and the UK are long standing trade partners and are both members of the EU. For British companies it is comparatively easy to do business in Portugal, where, on the other hand, they find a comparatively small market. However, if we look at it as a platform into other markets where Portuguese companies have been developing and supplying projects it becomes much more attractive.
