You can pay using Mastercard and Visa credit card by printing a credit card payment form filling in your card details as instructed on the form, and enclosing this with your correspondence by post. Do not send your actual credit card. Please ensure you have sufficient funds available to pay using your credit card failing this, your application will be returned.
Visa Electron debit cards issued by Portuguese banks cannot be used for postal transactions. These cards use the "chip and pin" system. Portuguese banks do not offer the facility for remote transactions, including postal and telephone payments.

- fingerprint checks before people come to the United Kingdom
- a strong new force at the border
- counting people in and out of the United Kingdom
- introducing identity cards for foreign nationals.
